Babies scream the temple down in 'crying sumo'

The 19th "naki zumo" ("crying sumo") competition was held on Sunday at Senso-ji Temple in the Asakusa district of Tokyo's Taito Ward, with more than 80 babies taking part.

Based on the old Japanese saying "Nakuko wa sodatsu," which means babies who cry in a loud voice will grow up healthy, the contest originally began with the aim of praying for the healthy growth of children.
