Japan successfully launches new rocket with 1st unmanned cargo vehicle


Japan successfully launched a newly developed H-2B rocket early Friday carrying its first unmanned transportation vehicle used to supply the International Space Station. The transportation vehicle, called HTV, was separated from the H-2B No. 1 rocket about 15 minutes after the rocket was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture shortly after 2 a.m. and it was successfully put into orbit, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA.
